My work as Magpie Embroidery weaves a rich tapestry of femininity, humor, and cultural humility into fiber arts. Drawing from my deep appreciation for psychology and social work, I explore the intricacies of the human condition with a unique blend of sensitivity and wit. I often delve into dark and complex themes, addressing vulnerability, resilience, and the unspoken, while balancing these heavy subjects with delicate details that invite reflection and connection.
I celebrate the power of contradictions in my art: strength in fragility, beauty in imperfection, and laughter in sorrow. Through embroidery, I transform traditionally feminine crafts into a medium for profound storytelling, blending softness with raw emotional depth. Humor—sometimes cheeky, sometimes sardonic—is a key element in my work, serving as a bridge to connect with difficult topics in an approachable way.
Cultural humility is central to my practice.
